Nature, Unequaled Geographic
Contrasts
Come ride and walk with us in the
beautiful Sierra Madre Mountains of Mexico.
On our Copper Canyon Train Trip
walking is optional which enables walkers and non-walkers to take the
same trip. This has helped many couples with inactive spouses to take
the same trip together, enable more people to see the awesome beauty
of this unbelievable part of the world.
Ride the most dramatic railway in the
Western Hemisphere and see the undiscovered frontier that only Mexico
can offer. The train will take you over 400 miles, through 86 tunnels,
over 39 bridges, pine trees at 8,000 ft. high to topical Los Mochis at
Sea level.
Experience The "Chihuahua-Pacific
Railway":
This railway is the most
dramatic railway in the Western Hemisphere. Initial work began in 1871
and was completed in 1961 at a cost of over $100 million. Even though
the rail travels over mountains, through canyons and to beaches, the
grade is never over 6%. At one point the track crosses over itself,
makes a complete circle inside a mountain, crosses 39 bridges (some
over 300 ft high), passes through 86 tunnels, crosses the Continental
Divide three times and is one of the finest engineering marvels in the
world.
First class passenger
service includes reclining seats, air conditioning, restrooms, and
unsurpassed wilderness views.
Why Are We
Different?
If you want to find the
real treasure of the Sierra Madre, you must catch a train. Now you can
see this spectacular part of the world, but instead of being just a
sight-seer, you can WALK in the fresh crisp mountain altitudes and
even on a beautiful tropical beach at Topolobampo on the coast... all
in the same trip! We are the only company that takes you on the ENTIRE
train ride from the upper canyons to the beaches and lets you walk at
points of interest along this magnificent railway. A train ride here
is like taking a trip back in time through the American frontier. Remember
walking is optional.
In This Remote Area:
We will have close
contact with the people living in rural Mexico - we will be spending
nights in motels and bread and breakfast facilities. you will be
provided with the greatest views in the North America, plenty of fresh
air, great trail, rustic charm and comfort.
"Barrancas Del Cobre"
The Copper Canyons are a
series of large canyons covering 650 square kilometers (four times
larger and 1,462 feet deeper than the Grand Canyon of Arizona). There
are five main canyons, Sinforosa Canyon, Guaynopa Canyon, and
Batopilas Canyon. Vegetation includes pine, oak, scrub oak, pinon,
juniper, and madrono in the highest portions of the Sierra Madre
Range. In the depths of the canyon you'll see tropical vegetation,
bananas, mangos, avocados, and citrus.

Visit The Tarahumara
Indians:
The name means "The
People". The Tarahumara Indians
have maintained centuries of old culture and traditions. The 45,000
Tarahumara inhabit the remote parts of the canyons and many still live
in caves. They are nomads...during the winter they move to the lower
winter climates and during summer they move to higher cooler climates.
They use over 200 species of plants for food, plus grow corn. They are
most known for their running abilities.
The railway employed many
of the Tarahumaras to help build the railway and as a result some of
the Tarahumaras have adopted a western style and attire.
